Isolated Foreground + Blend Mask |
The foreground was isolated using the focal variance filtering method discussed in my previous post, giving us a nice alpha-blended mask. Since these shots were done on a tripod and the foreground was relatively close, the error between exposures was small enough to allow the extraction of detail I've striven for in earlier shots.

Fastest exposure combined with a horrific stack of ND filters gave a nice exposure of the sun, which was then unfocused in several exposures, the result of which was multiplied by the focused one (producing the rays seen above) |
